Driver Arrested after Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash near Mathews Road

FRENCH CAMP, CA (March 12, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, one victim was killed and another was hurt in a solo-car collision on Interstate 5.

Around 3:32 p.m., police responded to the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Mathews Road. 

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a vehicle lost control and crashed into a power pole. 

Responding paramedics declared one of the passengers dead at the scene. However, the identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed to the public. 

Meanwhile, paramedics transported another passenger to a nearby hospital for further treatment of unspecified injuries. 

Following preliminary duties, officers arrested the driver for DUI. No further details have been released to the public at this time. San Joaquin County Officials will provide more information about the fatal solo-car collision on Interstate 5 once available.
