Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision near Jackson Avenue

MURRIETA, CA (March 7, 2024) – Late Tuesday morning, Ricardo Avila Perez was arrested and 8 were hurt in a red-light crash on Nutmeg Street.

Around 10:50 a.m., officers spotted a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Juniper Street. 

Police then attempted to pull over the white Acura several times, but the driver did not comply. Shortly after, the suspect ran past a red light and collided with three vehicles at the intersection of Nutmeg Street and Jackson Avenue. 

Emergency personnel transported the stolen vehicle driver, his female passenger, and six others to a nearby hospital. All patients sustained non-life-threatening injuries. 

Following preliminary duties, police arrested the suspect, 31-year-old Ricardo Avila Perez of Perris, for several charges. 

California Highway Patrol officers closed the intersection for several hours during cleanup and preliminary duties.
