Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision on Highway 101 [Sonoma County, CA]
Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near Airport Boulevard
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (March 7, 2024) – Early Friday morning, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Highway 101.
Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just north of Airport Boulevard.
Per reports, the driver of a northbound Toyota Camry struck a pedestrian in the middle lane. At this time, it is still unclear why the person was walking across traffic lanes.
First responders declared the male victim dead at the scene. However, his identity has not yet been released to the public.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Camry driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the crash. In the end, the CHP closed down the northbound 101 for investigation. Officials are asking those with additional information regarding the fatal Airport Boulevard pedestrian crash to contact the Santa Rosa CHP office at 707-588-1400.
