46-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near 81st Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 6, 2024) – Sunday, Ronald Huntley was pronounced dead after a hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Avalon Boulevard.
The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m., near 81st Street in the Florence neighborhood.
Officers say the driver of a southbound vehicle struck a man who was crossing the street in an easterly direction outside of a marked crosswalk.
Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities. Responding medical personnel declared 46-year-old Huntley dead at the scene.
At this time, police have not released any additional information regarding the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle. The driver was last seen traveling southbound on Avalon Boulevard.
Crews shut down the surrounding road for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
Officials ask those who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run to contact the LAPD as soon as possible. Once available, further details will be provided.
