Young Child Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian near West Tidwell Road
HOUSTON, TX (February 28, 2024) – Saturday evening, police were called to a pedestrian accident on North Shepherd Drive.
Just before 8:45 p.m., officers responded to the scene at the 5601 block of North Shepherd Drive near West Tidwell Road on February 4th.
Police learned the driver of a vehicle was traveling through a green light and struck the young boy who was crossing from east to west outside of a marked crosswalk. Crews say he was on his way to a store at the time.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the young boy dead at the scene.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
Meanwhile, the driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
