1 Killed, Multiple Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision near Etiwanda Avenue

RESEDA, CA (February 27, 2024) – Sunday morning, Nicolas Velasco Marcos was arrested and a man was killed in a crash on West Vanowen Street. 

The incident occurred around 11:18 a.m., at the 18153 block of West Vanowen, just east of Etiwanda Avenue.

According to reports, a white Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed switched lanes for reasons unknown. Consequently, the Charge collided with a yellow Chevrolet Camaro heading east on Vanowen Street. 

The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to lose control and hit several other cars on the roadway. Emergency crews had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate two trapped occupants.

Responding emergency units declared the Camaro driver – only described as a 32-year-old man – dead at the scene. In addition, six other patients from the collision were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. 

Paramedics also rushed the 21-year-old Reseda man driving the Dodge, identified as Nicolas Velasco Marcos – to a hospital. However, authorities later booked Marcos into the Van Nuys Jail for suspicion of murder with bail set to $2 million.
