Woman Fatally Struck in Bicycle Collision on Embarcadero Road [Palo Alto, CA]
Three Drivers Involved in Fatal Bicycle Accident near Newell Road
PALO ALTO, CA (February 26, 2024) – Monday night, one woman was fatally struck in a bicycle collision on Embarcadero Road.
The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m., near Newell Road.
Officers say the driver of an eastbound 2023 Honda Accord rear-ended a woman who was riding a bicycle in the left lane. Upon impact, the woman was ejected into the intersection where the drivers of two eastbound vehicles struck her.
The two eastbound drivers fled the scene while the initial driver stayed in the area and cooperated with the investigation.
Responding emergency personnel declared the female cyclist deceased at the scene. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has not yet released her identity.
At this time, the department’s Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) is leading the investigation. Palo Alto Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal bicycle-auto collision to contact the department’s dispatch center at 650-329-2413.
