24-Year-Old Man Dies in Fiery Two-Vehicle Collision near Ira

SCURRY COUNTY, TX (February 25, 2024) – Monday afternoon, Seth Thomas Boynton was killed in a head-on accident.

Authorities responded to the scene on Farm-to-Market Road 1609 around 1:20 p.m., on February 12th.

Per reports, Boynton was driving a GMC pickup-truck towing a flatbed utility-trailer south and veered into the northbound lanes. There, 26-year-old Cameron Scott Johnson attempted to avoid a collision by veering into the southbound lanes.

However, Boynton also maneuvered back into the southbound lanes and the two collided head-on. Upon impact, the GMC caught fire and became engulfed in flames.

Paramedics arrived and transported Johnson and his passenger, 30-year-old Stephan Jerod Gunderson to Cogdell Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 24-year-old Boynton dead at the scene.
