One Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Accident near U.S. 290

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (February 22, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, Simon Garcia was fatally struck in a multi-vehicle crash on Northwest Freeway.

Around 3:30 p.m., police responded to the scene at the 15218 block of Northwest Freeway on February 13th.

Per reports, Garcia was loading a disabled vehicle onto a white 2013 Isuzu NRR flatbed and stopped in the right lane of the freeway. Meanwhile, Elieser Alonso was driving a white 2019 Dodge Promaster and veered left to avoid striking the tow-truck.

As the Dodge entered the left lane, the left front rear-ended a 2015 Odom Utility Trailer, operated by Joseph Ramirez.

Emergency responders transported Garcia to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, both Alonso and Ramirez did not exhibit any signs of impairment and they stayed at the scene to cooperate.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.

No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Simon Garcia.
