Shane Grimes Involved in Fatal Solo-Car Crash on Highway 299 [Redding, CA]
Two Passengers Killed in Pickup-Truck Collision near Grizzly Gulch Road
REDDING, CA (February 22, 2024) – Late Wednesday night, Shane Grimes was involved in a fatal solo-car crash on Highway 299.
The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Grizzly Gulch Road and Whiskeytown Lake.
Officers say 39-year-old Grimes of Vancouver, Washington fell asleep while driving a 2022 Ford Ranger. The Ranger then veered off to the north side of the freeway and rolled down an embankment, before resting on its roof.
Grimes then extricated himself from the vehicle and contacted 911. However, his two passengers sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Investigators claimed that Shane and his passengers weren’t wearing any seatbelts at the time of the incident. Redding Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal crash to contact the CHP at 530-225-0500.
