Fertility Tech Company Faces Wave of Lawsuits after Botched I.V.F. Destroys Embryos
CooperSurgical Recalls Defective I.V.F. Product, Potentially Thousands Affected
(February 21, 2024) – One of the largest fertility tech companies in the world is facing a wave of lawsuits after their botched I.V.F. destroyed embryos.
The nutrient-rich liquid that was used is intended to aid in the vitro fertilization process. However, it was announced that CooperSurgical recalled multiple lots of the I.V.F. liquid that were missing a key nutrient, Magnesium.
Despite the product’s intent to aid the fertilization process, it instead rendered the embryos unusable. Families are now coming forward to share their devastating experiences discovering that their chances at conception were destroyed.
At this time, the total number of affected patients remains unclear. Although, embryologist and laboratory director at California Fertility Partners, Mitchel C. Schiewe estimates the number to be around 20,000, if even half the purchased bottles were used.
As a result of the product recall, eight lawsuits have been filed against CooperSurgical. If you or someone you know has used defective products by CooperSurgical Incorporated, you are not alone. Collect any and all documentation, and contact an attorney as soon as possible.
