Mitchel Schiewe Says Potentially Thousands of Patients Affected by Defective CooperSurgical Product
Embryologist Believes 20,000 Patients Affected by Faulty I.V.F Liquid
(February 19, 2024) – Mitchel Schiewe believes thousands of patients could have been affected by a defective CooperSurgical product.
Within a span of only two months, the company responsible for distributing a faulty product intended for in vitro fertilization has faced eight legal actions.
Regulatory officials have revealed that CooperSurgical has issued recalls for three batches of the I.V.F. product due to the absence of a vital nutrient, Magnesium. However, clinics around the world have already used the liquid on patients throughout November and December.
Despite the product’s intent to aid the fertilization process, it instead rendered the embryos unusable. Families are now coming forward to share their devastating experiences discovering that their chances at conception were destroyed.
At this time, the total number of affected patients remains unclear. Although, embryologist and laboratory director at California Fertility Partners, Mitchel C. Schiewe estimates the number to be around 20,000, if even half the purchased bottles were used.
If you or someone you know has used defective products by CooperSurgical Incorporated, you are not alone. Collect any and all documentation, and contact an attorney as soon as possible.
