Rene Mentillo Dead, Kelly Mentillo Airlifted after Pedestrian Crash on State Highway 61 [Anahauc, TX]
1 Killed, 1 Injured in Pedestrian Accident near Barrow-White Road
ANAHAUC, TX (February 15, 2024) – Monday, Rene Mentillo died and Kelly Mentillo was airlifted after a pedestrian crash on State Highway 61.
Dispatchers responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m., near Barrow-White Road.
Officers say two women were running near the roadway when the driver of a white or silver Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra struck the pair. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 61-year-old Rene dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted 56-year-old Kelly to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
Further investigation is ongoing, and witnesses are urged to call the police.
