Nils Gustavson Dead, Dillon Sederland Hospitalized after 2-Vehicle Collision on State Route 246 [Lompoc, CA]
43-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Sedan vs Pickup-Truck Crash near Mission Gate Road
LOMPOC, CA (February 15, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, Nils Gustavson was killed and Dillon Sederland was hurt in a 2-vehicle collision.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the scene on State Route 246 just west of Mission Gate Boulevard.
For reasons under investigation, Gustavson was driving a 1997 Saab 4-door sedan and crossed over the double yellow lines. As a result, the sedan collided head-on with an eastbound 2023 Chevrolet pickup-truck.
Upon impact, the Chevy spun counter-clockwise and both vehicles sustained significant damage. First responders declared the driver of the sedan, 43-year-old Gustavson, of Lompoc dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the pickup-truck driver, 28-year-old Sederland to Lompoc Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
The California Highway Patrol closed the section of State Route 246 for further investigation. Once available, more details will be provided.
