Two-Vehicle Collision near Brookfield Drive Left Young Boy Injured
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 14, 2024) – Sunday evening, a hit-and-run collision on Franklin Boulevard involving a patrol vehicle led to the arrest of Damariae Daniel.
The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Brookfield Drive in the Parkway neighborhood.
According to the report, a deputy and his K-9 drove through the intersection in a Chevrolet SUV on a green light when a Buick hit them. The investigators said the silver Buick SUV was traveling south on Franklin and made a turn onto Brookfield Drive against a red light, resulting in a collision. However, the Buick driver did not pull over and fled the scene.
The impact of the crash caused the officer’s SUV to hit a boy standing in the northeast corner of the roadway with his father.
Responding medical personnel transported the unidentified boy to a hospital for unspecified injuries.
Later, the Buick driver turned himself in to the authorities, although, it remains unclear if the suspect was booked into jail. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office identified the hit-and-run suspect as 23-year-old Damariae Daniel.
At this time, the Sacramento Police Department is leading the investigation.
