35-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident near East Empire Avenue

SPOKANE, WA (February 12, 2024) – Saturday evening, Gary Thompson was arrested after a fatal pedestrian collision on North Morton Street.

The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m., near East Empire Avenue on February 3rd.

Per reports, Thompson was driving a vehicle and struck a 35-year-old woman as she was crossing Empire Avenue. Upon impact, the woman was pushed into the path of a second vehicle.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced the female pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released her identity.

Crews evaluated 70-year-old Thompson and charged him with vehicular manslaughter after displaying signs of impairment. Meanwhile, the second driver did not exhibit any signs of impairment.
