Woman Killed, Child Injured in Solo-Car Crash on Interstate 15 [San Diego, CA]
Driver Dead, 10-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized after Single-Car Accident near University Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 8, 2024) – Sunday evening, one woman was killed and a child was hurt in a solo-car crash on Interstate 15.
Authorities responded to the scene around 9:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near University Avenue.
According to reports, the driver of a blue Ford Fusion lost control and veered off the road. The Ford then struck a sign before rolling down an embankment and striking a tree.
Responding units from the California Highway Patrol declared the driver dead at the scene. At this time, officials only described the deceased victim as a 63-year-old woman.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed her 10-year-old male passenger to a children’s hospital for treatment of significant injuries.
In the end, Caltrans closed the right two lanes of southbound Interstate 5 for investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding the fatal solo-vehicle crash is encouraged to contact the San Diego Officials as soon as possible.
