75-Year-Old Pilot Dies in Plane Crash near Concord Avenue

CONCORD, CA (February 8, 2024) – Jacek Romanski died Tuesday morning, in a plane accident on Diamond Boulevard.

Dispatchers received calls around 10:30 a.m.

According to reports, the single-engine RV-6 airplane took off from Buchanan Field Airport and crashed near the intersection of Concord Avenue and Diamond Boulevard. 

Investigators said the plane also struck a car on the roadway. Responding emergency personnel transported the driver to a hospital after complaints of pain. 

However, the pilot of the plane sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased pilot as 75-year-old Romanski, of Berkeley. 

At this time, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
