Child Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Highlands Drive

MOUND HOUSE, NV (February 5, 2024) – Tuesday evening, one child was pronounced dead after a pedestrian accident on US 50.

The incident took place on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Highlands Drive just before 7:30 p.m., on January 26th.

Officers say the driver of an eastbound 2000 Ford F-350 struck a young pedestrian in the area. Upon impact, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Paramedics arrived and immediately transported the child to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Further investigation is still active, and any witnesses are urged to call the NSP at 775-687 9600.
