Two Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Accident near Annadale Avenue
FRESNO, CA (February 1, 2024) – Monday morning, Rogelio Avila and Yessenia Avila were killed in a 2-car collision on Chestnut Avenue.
Around 7:45 a.m., dispatchers arrived to the scene near Annadale Avenue.
Investigators say the driver of a westbound big-rig carrying milk made a left turn onto Chestnut Avenue. There, the driver of a northbound pickup-truck struck the big-rig and became pinned underneath.
Responding emergency personnel said the man and the woman inside the pickup died at the scene. Authorities later identified the victims as 50-year-old Rogelio and 20-year-old Yessenia, from Parlier.
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver remained unharmed.
Following preliminary duties, officers say the victims were father and daughter, driving to Fresno Pacific University for Yessenia’s class.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Rogelio Avila and Yessenia Avila.
