1 Pronounced Dead after Three-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 680 [Concord, CA]
One Killed in Truck vs SUV Collision near Concord Avenue
CONCORD, CA (January 31, 2024) – Friday evening, a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 680 claimed the life of one person.
The deadly collision happened around 9:52 p.m., along the southbound lanes of the freeway, near Concord Avenue.
Based on the initial investigation, a southbound SUV crashed into a concrete divider for unknown reasons and stayed in the traffic lanes.
Subsequently, a truck failed to avoid the SUV and crashed into it. Police said a third vehicle was also involved, although, it remains unclear how.
First responders declared the SUV driver dead at the scene. However, their name remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.
No other injuries were reported from the incident. The CHP is asking those who witnessed the fatal Interstate 680 crash to contact 925-646-4980.
