63-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Accident near Skypark Skatepark

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA (January 30, 2024) – Saturday morning, a solo-car collision on Kings Valley Road claimed the life of Richard Wells.

Officers responded to the scene around 8:40 a.m., near Skypark Skatepark at the 361 block of Kings Village Road.

Per reports, witnesses spotted a white Subaru SUV driving erratically in the parking lot. The vehicle then crashed into an unoccupied blue car before rolling down a ravine near the skatepark. 

Responding emergency personnel declared the sole occupant of the vehicle deceased at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased driver as 63-year-old Wells, of Santa Cruz. 

At this time, Scotts Valley officials are asking those with additional information regarding the fatal crash to contact the local police at (831) 440-5670.
