Kristina Rios Dies in Car Accident on 99th Avenue [Tolleson, AZ]
14-Year-Old Girl Fatally Struck in Red-Light Collision near Van Buren Street
TOLLESON, AZ (January 30, 2024) – Early Saturday evening, Kristina Rios was fatally struck in a car accident on 99th Avenue.
Authorities responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., near Van Buren Street on January 20th.
Following preliminary duties, officers determined that Rios was the passenger of a vehicle that was making a turn at the intersection. There, the driver of another car struck the turning vehicle.
Responding paramedics transported the teenage passenger to a nearby hospital where she later died on Sunday, January 21st. Her father later identified her as 14-year-old Rios. She had just celebrated her birthday and will be deeply missed by her community.
Meanwhile, the other driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. They did not show any signs of impairment.
