37-Year-Old Man Arrested after Fatal Solo-Vehicle Crash near Del Rio Road
ATASCADERO, CA (January 29, 2024) – Sunday evening, a DUI crash on Highway 101 claimed the life of Edna Marquez Galindo.
The fatal incident happened around 10:42 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway, just south of Del Rio Road.
According to CHP, a Subaru Impreza traveling at a high rate of speed veered into the center divider. Investigators said the driver overcorrected causing the Subaru to go off the freeway and rolled over the nearby frontage road.
Consequently, a woman in the passenger seat was ejected from the vehicle, leaving her with significant injuries. The first responders transported the woman to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo where she died.
Later, officials identified the deceased woman as 32-year-old Edna Marquez Galindo of Fresno.
Meanwhile, the Subaru driver, identified as 37-year-old Oscar Del La Mora Marin of Reedley, sustained minor injuries.
In the end, authorities booked Mora Marin in San Luis Obispo County Jail for suspected DUI. Those who witnessed the crash are encouraged to contact local authorities as soon as possible.
