1 Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on San Pablo Avenue [Oakland, CA]
One Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Channing Way
OAKLAND, CA (January 26, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, one victim was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on San Pablo Avenue.
Police officers responded to the scene shortly before 1:00 p.m., at the 2400 block of San Pablo Avenue near Channing Way.
Officers say the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street. Upon impact, the driver did not render aid to the victim and immediately fled the scene.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.
Police have not provided additional information about the suspect. At this time, authorities are working to determine whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
