7-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Girls Killed in Semi-Truck Crash near Lake Road
GILROY, CA (January 25, 2024) – Friday morning, two young girls were fatally injured in a big-rig collision on Highway 152.
Police officers responded to the scene just after 7:00 a.m., just west of Lake Road on January 12th.
Officers say the driver of a westbound 2021 Tesla attempted to pass a big-rig by entering the eastbound lanes. There, the Tesla struck an oncoming 2018 Honda and 2017 Dodge.
In addition, the Dodge collided with a Peterbilt big-rig, and the Tesla went into the path of a 2020 Subaru.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced a 7-year-old girl from inside the Dodge dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported a 4-year-old girl to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.
In addition, responders transported three occupants from inside the Honda and the driver of the Subaru to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
At this time, no citations or arrests were made, and further investigation is still ongoing.
