Man Dead, 2 Hospitalized after Fiery 2-Car Accident on San Pasqual Road [San Diego, CA]
19-Year-Old Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Fiery Collision near Sunset Hills
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 25, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, one man was killed and two were injured in a 2-car accident on San Pasqual Road.
Dispatchers received calls in the area around 1:30 p.m., at the 13500 block of San Pasqual Road near Sunset Hills.
Per reports, the male driver of an eastbound 2003 red Pontiac lost control and veered into the westbound lanes.
As a result, the westbound white 2023 Chevrolet Bolt broadsided the Pontiac, causing both vehicles to catch on fire. Medics later pronounced the 19-year-old Pontiac driver dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported two people from inside the Chevy to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. They were only described as a 79-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman, believed to be husband and wife.
San Diego Officials issued a SigAlert in the area, closing San Pasqual Road for several hours for investigation.
