Elderly Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash on West Mission Road [San Marcos, CA]
Pedestrian-Pickup Collision near Las Posas Road Kills 66-Year-Old Woman
SAN MARCOS, CA (January 25, 2024) – Thursday evening, a pedestrian crash on West Mission Road claimed the life of an elderly female.
Deputies responded to reports of the collision at the intersection of West Mission and North Las Posas Road.
According to the report, a gray Toyota Tacoma hit the pedestrian walking in a northerly direction in a crosswalk near Palomar Sprinter Station.
Investigators said the 61-year-old man driving the Tacoma was traveling westbound at 1100 West Mission Road when the crash happened.
Tragically, the responding units from the San Marcos Fire and Paramedics declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the identity of the deceased victim once the next of kin has been notified.
San Marcos Officials are asking those who witnessed the incident to contact the San Marcos Traffic Unit at (760) 510-5200.
