55-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident near X Street

SACRAMENTO, CA (January 23, 2024) – Police arrested Payton Glynn Tuesday night, after a deadly bicycle collision on 21st Street.

Police responded to the scene around 7:45 p.m., near X Street.

Officers say the driver of a vehicle struck a bicyclist in the area for reasons unknown. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim or contacting authorities.

Medics arrived and transported the 55-year-old female cyclist to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. At this time, the identity of the deceased female bicyclist remains undisclosed to the public.

On Wednesday, authorities managed to spot and arrest the involved driver. Police booked 63-year-old Payton Glynn into the Sacramento County Main Jail for felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

Sacramento Officials are asking those who witnessed the crash to contact the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP.
