66-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Accident near Grand Avenue 

LAKE ELSINORE, CA (January 22, 2024) – Late Saturday morning, Christopher McCartney was killed in a motorcycle collision on Highway 74.

Authorities responded to the scene around 11:15 a.m., on the eastbound lanes of the freeway about two miles west of Grand Avenue.

According to California Highway Patrol, the rider of a 2014 Triumph motorcycle failed to negotiate a right-hand curve. 

As a result, the motorcycle went off the roadway and hit the mountainside, ejecting the rider onto the road. First responders later declared the motorcyclist dead at the scene.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau identified the deceased rider as 66-year-old McCartney, of Tustin.

Officials are asking anyone with additional information about the crash to contact the CHP’s Temecula office at 951-466-4300.
