Adolfo Raya Jr. Dead, Aldo Montoya Airlifted after Multi-Vehicle Collision on Pond Road [Kern County, CA]
38-Year-Old Driver Killed, 33-Year-Old Passenger Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 43
KERN COUNTY, CA (January 22, 2024) – Friday, Adolfo Raya Jr. was killed and Aldo Montoya was hurt in a multi-vehicle collision on Pond Road.
Dispatchers responded to the scene around 3:00 p.m., near Highway 43 on January 12th.
Officers say Raya Jr. was driving a silver Chevrolet west through the intersection while a northbound tan Chevrolet was approaching at high speeds.
The silver Chevy then struck the driver’s side of the tan Chevy. Upon impact, a tire from the silver Chevy detached from the vehicle and hit a nearby Lexus and Ford.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced 38-year-old Raya Jr., deceased.
Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted a passenger of a silver Chevy, 33-year-old Montoya, from McFarland to Kern Medical with serious injuries. The loved ones of Montoya set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this time.
Crews also say the 19-year-old male driver of the tan Chevy, from Delano was in the hospital with moderate wounds.
Following preliminary duties, officers determined that alcohol or drugs did not play a factor. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
