Suspected DUI Collision Near Treasure Island Resulted in Fatality

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 17, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, police arrested two people following a fatal DUI crash on Highway 80.

The deadly collision happened around 3:16 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of the highway, west of Treasure Island.

Based on the initial investigation, a blue Honda sedan crashed into the back of a Mercedes SUV resting in the no. 2 lane for unknown reasons.

Police said the 25-year-old East Bay woman driving the blue Honda exited her vehicle when a gray Honda rear-ended her car. The impact of the collision caused her blue Honda to hit the Mercedes.

Unfortunately, the female blue Honda owner succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. At this time, her name remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.

The gray Honda driver was hospitalized due to their injuries, however, they were eventually arrested for suspected DUI. Meanwhile, the Mercedes driver did not sustain injuries but was also arrested for driving under the influence.

In the end, Sacramento Officials closed the no 1-4 lanes of Highway 80 for investigation. Authorities will release additional information as it becomes available to the public.
