55-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Accident near Milepost 19 and State Route 225

BENTON COUNTY, WA (January 16, 2024) – Early Monday morning, Thomas Woodrich was killed in a head-on collision on State Route 240.

First responders arrived to the scene near mile post 19 around 5:45 a.m., near January 8th after receiving multiple calls in the area.

Police officers say Woodrich, of Pasco was driving a Ford F-250 and attempted to pass another car by veering into the eastbound lanes. There, the Ford collided head-on with a Dodge Ram, driven by Ryan Harris.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 55-year-old Woodrich dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, 47-year-old Harris, of Yakima remained uninjured.

Emergency crews blocked the surrounding area during clearing operations. At this time, the identity of the deceased was not yet disclosed, and further investigation is ongoing.
