One Injured in Rear-End Collision on 5 Freeway

GORMAN, CA (January 16, 2024) – Wednesday morning, a big rig crash near Smoke Bear Road left one person with significant injuries. 

The CHP responded to the collision shortly before 7:00 a.m. along the southbound 5 Freeway near Smoke Bear Road, just south of Gorman. 

According to the report, one of the semi-trucks rear-ended another big rig near the right shoulder.

The impact of the crash caused one of the truck’s payloads to scatter along the roadway. As a result, the traffic was backed up along the southbound lanes as the CHP conducted an investigation. 

Eventually, medical responders arrived at the scene to extricate and rush one patient to a hospital for serious leg injuries. No other injuries were reported from the collision.
