Man Dies in Head-On Accident on State Route 59 [Merced, CA]
Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Crash near Rahilly Road
MERCED, CA (January 16, 2024) – Tuesday morning, one man suffered fatal injuries in a head-on accident on State Route 59.
The incident occurred around 10:47 a.m., near Rahilly Road.
According to reports, the driver of a southbound 2019 Jeep SUV veered into oncoming lanes and collided head-on with a 2020 Freight Line box-truck.
The 20-year-old Atwater man driving the Jeep sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. However, his name has not been disclosed to the public.
Meanwhile, the 54-year-old driver of the box-truck from Fresno remained uninjured. Police do not suspect drugs and alcohol to be a factor in the incident.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
