65-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near West Main Street
SANTA BARBARA, CA (January 15, 2024) – Gregorio Dominguez was killed, and Bladimir Chavez was arrested Monday, after a head-on DUI crash.
The incident occurred on Christmas morning around 1:38 a.m., on Highway 166 near West Main Street, just west of Bonita School Road.
Per reports, the driver of a Toyota Camry veered over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an Infiniti I-30.
Due to the impact of the crash, the male driver of the Infiniti died at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 65-year-old Dominguez, of Guadalupe.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Camry driver, 27-year-old Bladimir Chavez of Santa Maria, to a hospital for moderate injuries. He is currently being charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury, and driving above the legal limit.
Officers also say Chavez was driving without a valid license and had 11 empty Modelo bottles in the vehicle.
