63-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Jamacha Road

SPRING VALLEY, CA (January 15, 2024) – Sunday evening, Dale Pumphrey was killed in a pedestrian collision on State Route 125.

Authorities responded to the scene around 8:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Jamacha Road on December 31st.

According to reports, Pumphrey was attempting to help move a disabled Toyota Camry off the right shoulder and onto the flatbed of his tow-truck.

There, the driver of a passing 2013 Toyota Prius struck Pumphrey. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, responding paramedics pronounced 63-year-old Pumphrey dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the driver of the Prius remained at the scene and did not sustain any injuries. Following preliminary duties, officers do not believe that alcohol or drugs were involved.
