Two Pronounced Dead after Speeding Collision near West 60th Place
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 15, 2024) – Sunday night, two victims were killed and two were hurt in a speeding SUV crash on Normandie Avenue.
Around 11:20 p.m., police responded to the scene near West 60th Place.
Investigators say the driver of a speeding SUV was fleeing from another collision and failed to stop at a posted stop sign. As a result, the SUV struck a sedan.
Upon impact, the sedan was pushed into a street sign and a fence on the southwest corner of 60th Place.
The sedan was occupied by a family of four. Good Samaritans attempted to exitricate all four occupants from the smoking sedan. Responding units from the LAFD arrived shortly after and rushed the mother and the two young girls to a nearby hospital.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the father driving the sedan died at the scene. Meanwhile, the oldest of the two girls succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The SUV driver was also hospitalized for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Los Angeles Officials continue to investigate the fatal Normandie Avenue crash.
