80-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Via Real

CARPINTERIA, CA (January 12, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Steven Kingsley Close was fatally struck in a bicycle collision on Rincon Road. 

Police responded to the scene around 8:45 a.m., near Via Real and Highway 101.

According to reports, a vehicle and a bicyclist collided in the area. Meanwhile, the involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff Coroner’s Bureau later identified the victim as 80-year-old Steven Kingsley Close from Carpinteria.
