Two Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near FM 646

LEAGUE CITY, TX (January 12, 2024) – Saturday morning, two victims were killed and one was hurt in a wrong-way accident on Interstate 45.

The incident occurred around 3:12 a.m., at the 2900 block of the freeway near FM 646.

Investigators say the driver of a Toyota sedan was traveling the wrong-way and struck a Volkswagen. First responders arrived and found the Toyota sedan engulfed in flames.

Medical personnel pronounced the male passenger dead at the scene, due to the extent of injuries sustained. Meanwhile, the female driver was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

In addition, medics pronounced the female driver of the Volkswagen dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
