23-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash near Topanga Canyon Boulevard

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 10, 2024) – Monday morning, one man was killed in a box-truck collision on 118 Freeway.

Around 8:45 a.m., police responded to the scene near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

Investigators say lumber from a flatbed truck crashed through a Penske rental box truck’s windshield. As a result, the 23-year-old male box-truck driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. 

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the lumber truck driver to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. An SUV was also reported to have been involved in the incident, although, no other injuries were reported. 

Following preliminary duties, officers believe that speed was a factor in the collision. At around 12:15 p.m., the Los Angeles Officials reopened all the lanes of 118 Freeway. Once available, further details will be provided.
