24-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Crash near Merle Haggard Drive

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 10, 2024) – Thursday evening, Dylan Ray McCutcheon was killed in a motorcycle collision on McCray Street.

Authorities responded to to the scene around 8:30 p.m., at the intersection of McCray Street and Merle Haggard Drive. 

Officers say a motorcyclist ran a red light and struck the side of a sedan that was entering the intersection. Upon impact, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle onto the road after slamming into a pole.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, first responders declared the rider dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the deceased victim.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the driver of the vehicle to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries. Police do not suspect drugs and alcohol to be a factor in the collision. 

At this time, Bakersfield Officials continue to investigate the crash.
