24-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Accident on Sycamore Street

CLOVIS, NM (January 9, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, troopers were dispatched to a crash where Matthew Gibbs died, reports say.

On December 30th, just before 12:45 a.m., the Clovis Police Department received a report from passing drivers.

Reports showed that a man was found dead near the 14th and Sycamore Streets.

Furthermore, the authorities arrived at the scene and they found 24-year-old Gibbs lying unconscious on the roadway. They attempted to revive Gibbs, but they were unsuccessful.

Gibbs died at the scene, and the pickup truck that hit him fled as soon as he struck Gibbs.

Further investigation is still ongoing, any witnesses are urged to call the Clovis Police Department at 575-769-1921.

Also, the family of Gibbs raised a GoFundMe page for funeral expenses.
