Auto-Pedestrian Crash near High Street Left 22-Year-Old Woman Dead

OAKLAND, CA (January 9, 2024) – Tuesday evening, a pedestrian crash on Interstate 880 the day after Christmas took the life of Camilla Dayanna Sanchez. 

Police responded to the fatal collision around 9:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway, near High Street and 66th Avenue. 

Upon arrival, the officers learned that a pickup truck near the center divider collided with the victim. 

Tragically, the first responders declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the deceased victim as 22-year-old Camilla Dayanna Sanchez.

Police said the pickup driver stayed at the site of the incident and cooperated with the California Highway Patrol.
