30-Year-Old Man Arrested after Injuring 5 Firefighters in a DUI Crash near Thomas Road

PHOENIX, AZ (January 4, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, police arrested Alexis Alcantar Mendoza after causing a collision.

According to the Phoenix police, it occurred around 1:00 a.m., near the area of 75th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Investigation showed that an SUV driven by 30-year-old Mendoza ran over a red light and crashed into a Phoenix Fire Department heavy rescue vehicle occupied by five firefighters.

Furthermore, all of them were able to get out of their respective vehicles, and paramedics transported all six of them to the hospital. All of them were in stable condition.

Moreover, Mendoza displayed signs of being impaired, and the authorities booked him into Maricopa County jail after he was released from the hospital.
