Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash on West 22nd Street [Tucson, AZ]
Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near South 11th Avenue
TUCSON, AZ (January 3, 2024) – Wednesday evening, one man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run bicycle crash on West 22nd Street.
Officers responded to the scene just before 6:45 p.m., near South 11th Avenue on December 27th.
Per reports, the driver of a westbound silver or grey 2002-2006 Toyota struck a cyclist that was heading north. Paramedics rushed the cyclist to Banner University Medical Center where he later passed away.
Meanwhile, the suspect took off from the scene and authorities are still looking for the suspect. Troopers also determined that the cyclist did not have a helmet on or reflective lights. In addition, the driver was traveling at high speeds.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
