Ryan Johnson Arrested, Pamela Mays and Abram Ramirez Hurt after DUI Collision on Highway 101 [San Luis Obispo, CA]
Two Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Collision near Broad Street
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (January 2, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, police arrested Ryan Johnson following a DUI collision on Highway 101.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 3:42 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near Broad Street.
Officers say the driver of a northbound vehicle veered into the southbound lanes and collided with an oncoming vehicle. Upon impact, the wrong-way driver spun out and struck a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup-truck, driven by 38-year-old Abram Ramirez of Guadalupe.
Authorities later detained the driver of the wrong-way vehicle after he fled the scene on foot. Police charged 47-year-old Ryan Johnson of San Luis Obispo for suspicion of hit-and-run and felony DUI.
In addition, paramedics transported the driver of the second vehicle, 78-year-old Pamela Hays of Pismo Beach, to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. Crews also transported Ramirez to the same hospital with minor injuries.
