66-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck in Bicycle Collision near Ottawa Road

APPLE VALLEY, CA (January 2, 2024) – Early Tuesday evening, Gerald Duncan was killed in a bicycle accident on Navajo Road.

Dispatchers responded to the area just before 6:00 p.m., near Ottawa Road on December 19th.

According to reports, the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling in the No. 1 southbound lane and struck a cyclist who crossed left across the road.

First responders located Duncan down on the road with serious injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 66-year-old Duncan, of Apple Valley deceased.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old driver of the Chevy remained uninjured.

Authorities blocked Navajo Road between Powhatan and Osage roads for almost five hours before they reopened it. Following preliminary investigations, police say the cyclist was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time.

An active investigation is still ongoing, and any witnesses are to contact local officers as soon as possible.
