Solo-Vehicle Crash Near Jefferson Street Exit Kills Desert Hot Springs Woman
INDIO, CA (December 28, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Teresa Herrera was declared dead in a car accident along Interstate 10 in Indio.
The fatal incident occurred around 2:05 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway, near the Jefferson Street exit.
According to California Highway Patrol, a silver Toyota Camry made an unsafe turn to the right and collided with a guardrail.
The impact of the crash caused the female passenger to be ejected from the vehicle. Unfortunately, the first responders declared 35-year-old Teresa Herrera of Desert Hot Springs dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 27-year-old driver from Palm Springs to a local hospital after complaints of pain. Police eventually arrested the driver after showing signs of intoxication.
Indio Officials reopened the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 after crews cleared out the scene.
