32-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Collision near Decker Road

MALIBU, CA (December 28, 2023) – Sunday evening, Jose Alfonso de Lira Piedra was killed in a motorcycle crash on Pacific Coast Highway.

The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m., at the 33400 block Pacific Coast Highway just north of Decker Road.  

Officers say a motorcyclist rear-ended a Cadillac Escalade that was backing out of a driveway. Upon impact, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle onto the road.

Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 32-year-old Piedra.

Following preliminary duties, police do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the collision. 

Malibu Officials closed down more than two miles of Pacific Coast Highway between Mulholland Highway and Decker Road. Once available, further details will be provided.
